BE A Mentor
Peer Mentors are volunteers who provide important personal connections to new Seneca students by answering questions, providing referrals, and assisting students in their transition to Seneca. A Peer Mentor will spend approximately 3 – 5 hours per week on mentoring related activities. BENEFITS & INCEntives

Give back - Be an active citizen and share your time and knowledge with new students and help them as they make their transition into Seneca Polytechnic.
Get recognized - Mentors are eligible to apply for the Margie Bader Mentoring Leadership Award which awards an outstanding mentor who has demonstrated leadership and has contributed towards the enhancement of student life at Seneca.
Expand your network - Gain networking opportunities to connect with the larger Seneca community including other students, faculty and employees.
Celebration event - Mentors are invited to attend a celebration event at the end of the semester.
Recognition - Each semester mentors will receive a "Recognition of Participation" for their commitment and dedication.
EXPECTATIONS
Mentors will share their experiences and knowledge
Connect new students to campus support services and resources
Promote academic, personal, and social success among new students
REQUIREMENTS
Peer Mentors:
Must be registered as a full-time student
Must be in good academic standing
Are expected to act in accordance to Seneca's Student Code of Conduct
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Training requirements:
Attend Virtual Peer Mentor training on Monday, December 16, 2024 (Time to be confirmed) + the choice of 1 in-person training on December 17 OR January 8 - Newnham Campus
Attend the Leadership Workshops Day (TBD)
Participation in additional training held throughout the semester
Serve as a resource and support:
Support and be accessible to a minimum of 10 students
Attend weekly in-person/virtual meetings with students (1:1 or in groups)
Provide accurate referrals and information to students
Attend Seneca programming with students
